Day 4 Rab to Novalia
Rainstorms in the morning allowed the crew to sleep in. Andrea, Andy and I did our ritual of being the first risers and finding the local espresso bar. "due cappucinos e due croissants del cioccolato o occasionalmente tre". Today we also inquired about the weather report as there was a cafe right next to the marina office. The skies cleared, wind at 12 knots, we were well underway shortly of arriving in Novalia at about 6 knot average. Beautiful weather accompanied by white wine from Germany. When we arrived in Novalia, I hopped off the boat before everyone else because there was no place to dock. We had to anchor her in the moor and take the dingy in to shore. I scouted out some good restaurants and bars and I got some great shots of the boat in the moor, the nightlife of Novalia and dinner, of course. We dined at Antiqua, feasting on our one non-seafood dinner of the whole trip. I had (and I think one or two others) a large steak with truffle cream sauce, other dishes on the table were mixed meat platters, salmon, potatoes, mixed salad and two litres of the house red. A very heavy and satisfying meal. Our waiter was goofy and wanted to take a complimentary shot of plum alcohol with us at the end of our meal, which left the girls twitching. It started pouring down rain during our meal, the roof leaked in just the right places to keep our large table dry, others weren't as fortunate. There was an African Grey parrot in the restaurant that whistled, the typical cat call whistle, at everyone walking through the door. In between heavy rain showers we walked to a gelato shoppe where Christina finally got her banana split she had been craving. Nich and Stacia shared a hazelnut gelatto sunday. Jinx got a pistascio sunday. I had an apple gelatto in a cone. Andrea wouldn't eat any ice cream, just espresso. I came to find out later that it is because he has visited gelatto factories. After dessert, Nick and Stacia got dinged back to the boat for a quiet evening of house music pumping from the shore, while the rest of us took a bus to Vresnik. A small town, on the opposite coast about 3 miles away. There was a weird African/German guy on the bus, who spoke English and said very strange things. Christina said she felt like she was in a horror movie. I guess you had to be there. We arrived to club Aquarius where we were the earliest, oldest people there and our waiter was a dumbass. We had a couple of rounds and left, the music was kinda lame. We did enjoy a nice walk back to where the bus picked us up along the beach. As we bused and dinged back to the boat, we were greeted with the realization that we forgot to batten down all the hatches. Nick and Stacia's room was soaked from all the rain, boo :(
